In less than a year, a Maryland man won the same lottery game three times. The man won by playing the same number each time, according to state lottery officials.
The 52-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, won $150,000 on Maryland’s Pick 5 game in the previous 11 months. For those curious about the lucky number, he bet on 48548 all three times. Because of his good fortune, the man was dubbed “Big Winner.” He did, however, credit his wife with the idea of using the same numbers and staying consistent.

“It hit last year and it hit again,” he said in a press release from the state lottery’s office. “My wife said, ‘Let’s play this number’ and we keep winning with it.”
Lottery officials added that the man “believes that most winners stop playing after their lucky number is drawn and incorrectly think their number will never hit again.”
According to the outlet, the Waldorf resident and truck driver won his latest $50,000 in the mid-day drawing on April 13.
According to state lottery officials, that ticket was purchased at Big Mouth Beer, Wine, and Liquor in Waldorf. Furthermore, the store will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Last year, the unidentified man won $100,000 after purchasing two tickets with the same numbers.
The odds of winning the Maryland Pick 5 game are one in 100,000, according to the state lottery website.
Meanwhile, “Big Winner” says he intends to keep playing the lottery and riding his luck.
“I play the Lottery all the time. You never know [what will happen]. You can’t win if you are not in it.”
Furthermore, the man added that he plans to use some of the winnings to take his wife on vacation.
