Nigerian content creator and foodie Munachimso Brian Nwana has set a new Guinness World Record by visiting 150 fast food restaurants in 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 100 visits held by American YouTuber Airrack. Before Airrack’s achievement, TikTok personalities Nick DiGiovanni and the late Lynn “Lynja” Davis held the title. Unlike these earlier attempts in New York City, Nwana’s record-breaking effort took place in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, which posed significant challenges due to the city’s layout and transportation limitations.

“New York offers clusters of restaurants and robust public transportation, making such attempts more manageable. Doing this in Abuja, however, was far more daunting,” Nwana, aged 22, shared after his successful record attempt.

A critical rule set by Guinness World Records is that no private transportation is allowed during the challenge. In Abuja, where public transportation is less developed, Nwana relied on walking between the restaurants, covering over 25 kilometers on foot. He began his journey at 5 p.m. and took a nine-hour rest between midnight and 9 a.m. before resuming the challenge and concluding at 5 p.m. the next day. The attempt began at Chicken Republic in Gwarinpa, a residential area, and ended at Kilimanjaro, a fast-food chain in the city center.

Participants in this challenge must purchase and consume at least one food or drink item at each location visited. According to Guinness World Records, Nwana “made an effort to taste something – even if just a mouthful – from most of the places he visited, with the remaining food shared among his team and members of the public.”

Nwana, a food consultant, took on this challenge to highlight Nigerian cuisine on a global stage. “This record showcases that the Nigerian food industry is worth noticing,” he said. “I want to encourage people worldwide to explore the Nigerian culinary scene.”

His record-setting journey comes on the heels of several other impressive feats by Nigerians, such as Oside Oluwole, a biochemist and car dealer, who recently broke the Guinness World Record for the longest video game marathon, playing for 75 continuous hours. Additionally, Nigerian chef Hilda Baci gained attention earlier this year for her remarkable cooking marathon, among other Nigerian record-setters who continue to capture global recognition with their incredible achievements.
