Tragedy struck on the 19th of April when a 3 year old toddler Devin Page Jr., from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was reportedly struck and killed by a stray bullet that flew through his window during a gunfight nearby.

Police believe that Devin was a victim of a gunfight between two people that occurred outside their home on Tuesday last night. He was asleep in bed next to his 1-year-old sister when he was hit with one of the bullets.

“Until it happens to you, until the gun is shot at your house, you know until the bullets come through your window, you don’t get involved. You have nothing to say,” his grandmother Cathy Toliver told KSLA. “But you don’t want this feeling that we have right now. You don’t want the feeling of knowing that you’ll never see your grandbaby or your son again. You don’t want that feeling.”

Family members said they have been considering moving to another neighborhood since gunshots were heard several nights nearby but they were told it would cost thousands of dollars.

“I try to stick it out. Now that I stick it out, this is the outcome of what happened. My son got killed,” Devin’s mother Tye Toliver said.

Investigation of the incident is ongoing. The family is trying to heal and is hoping the killer would be found and arrested.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe set up to assist the family with Devin’s memorial fund has so far raised over $10,000.

However, retired NBA icon and LSU collegiate star Shaquille O’Neal have also reached out to the family to cover the funeral expenses for Devin Page Jr.
