LaQuan Smith
If you are seeking for a black fashion label for luxury purposes, LaQuan Smith has got you covered. LaQuan is just 29-years-old but he is already making waves in the fashion industry. The New York-born designer has worked with top artists including Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga. His signature is sexy and show-stopping designs.
Pyer Moss
Pyer Moss was founded by Kerby Jean-Raymond. His signature is the use of his designs as a weapon to address social injustice. Kerby, who is of Haitian-American heritage, launched a presentation preceded by a video advocating for black empowerment and against police brutality. Since then he has created several designs that have aired his feelings towards several forms of social injustice in the society.
Dapper Dan
Dapper Dan was started by Daniel Day who was the pioneer of street hip-hop fashion in the 80s and 90s. He became popular for transforming high-end brands into urban street wear. He closed shop in 1992 but 25 years later he came back with a bang. He works with Gucci to produce custom bespoke designs as well as limited edition, ready-made apparel that can be purchased on order.
Lyfestyle
Lyfestyle was established by a group of four friends in 2010 who was inspired by not being able to shop on Fifth Avenue. The label encapsulates all of New York’s urban flavor, style, and art. This streetwear has worked with several top shots like Diddy, Cardi B, and Chance the Rapper.
Color by Nandi Madida
Nandi Madida hails from South Africa and the label made a presentation of Autumn/Winter wear at the New York Fashion Week in 2018. Her signature is elegant African designs showing the sophistication of the African Queen. Color was launched in 2016 and has made amazing leaps forward since then.
