A musical about Michael Jackson titled “Don’t Stop ‘Til you get enough” is billed to make its debut in the Summer of 2020. It was originally meant to debut in Chicago this year but it seems plans have changed. It will rather debut on Broadway next year instead.
The producers of the show made the announcement on Thursday. They said instead of having pre-Broadway performances in Chicago this Fall, it will be shifted till next year. They blamed their resolve on a recent strike by the Actors’ Equity Association. The body had revolted because they required compensation for developmental labs.
In turn, the leaders of the association said they were shocked that the industrial action had such an effect on the show. They labeled the announcement by the producers as disappointing especially since the actors and managers had no idea about the postponement till the announcement was made.
The life of Michael Jackson and his music is the major inspiration behind the musical. The book is being written by Lynn Nottage, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner. Christopher Wheeldon will be directing and choreographing.
