The dynamic mother-daughter duo Keri and Yara Shahidi have teamed up once again, this time bringing their inspiring collaboration to the world of podcasting. SiriusXM, in partnership with 7th Sun Productions—the media company co-founded by the Shahidis—recently announced the upcoming launch of their new podcast, “The Optimist Project.”
Set to premiere later this year, “The Optimist Project” will be hosted by Yara Shahidi, who will blend her insatiable curiosity and sharp wit to engage in conversations with influential change leaders about what fuels their optimism for a better future. Each episode will explore the essential yet often overlooked question: what gives you hope?
Yara Shahidi will be joined by a diverse array of guests from various generations and fields to discuss how they sustain their hope and optimism amidst challenges. The podcast aims to highlight both the large and small victories that keep these leaders motivated. At a time when the news can feel overwhelmingly negative, “The Optimist Project” seeks to equip listeners with the inspiration and tools needed to engage more meaningfully with the world around them.
“The Optimist Project blossomed from our own pursuit of fulfillment and the wonderful journey it takes us on,” said Keri and Yara Shahidi. “We are thrilled to give voice to and share conversations that we hope inspire us all to keep following our purpose and passions.”

The podcast will be co-produced by 7th Sun Productions and SiriusXM’s Stitcher Studios. This venture marks the first audio project from the Shahidis’ production company and is the latest addition to SiriusXM’s Listen Next initiative, which is designed to foster diverse audio talent and promote inclusivity in podcasting. Listen Next pairs the resources of SiriusXM with leading, diverse-led production companies to support the next generation of creators in launching successful, sustainable podcasting careers.
“We couldn’t be happier to be collaborating on such a fun, creative, and compelling project,” said Kameel Stanley, Program Director at SiriusXM’s Stitcher Studios. “Working with partners who love audio as much as we do is what the Listen Next program is all about. With Yara and Keri’s genuine interest in learning and exploring as the guiding force, we know that listeners are going to get so much out of ‘The Optimist Project.’”
“The Optimist Project” was created by Yara and Keri Shahidi, who will also serve as executive producers. Colin Anderson and Kameel Stanley from SiriusXM will join them as executive producers, with Judith Kargbo serving as senior producer.
