A big hearty congratulations to Nina Parker! After she designed her own looks for the 2020 Oscars and the 2021 Golden Globes; The E! News host is set to debut The Nina Parker Collection for Macy’s next month, E! News reports. And it is historical because Nina Parker’s Collection is the department store’s first time ever displaying a plus-size line created by a Black woman.

Nina Parker revealed that, her career in the spotlight required her always being dressed up in her bests, but it turned out to be a challenge finding the right outfits  to suit her taste because she is plus size.

“I was tired of trying to make things work,” Parker said. “I was tired of trying to make a square peg fit into a circle. So, I was like, ‘Let me create my own circle.’”

“My stylist and I were trying to find stuff off of the rack and it just wasn’t comparable to my counterparts,” Nina said. “It felt really unfair, like, ‘Yes, I am bigger than them, but does that mean I don’t matter as much because my waist is bigger?’”

Her clothing line is quite affordable, with the pricing ranging from $39 – $129 and includes; tank tops, dresses, and denim that feature bold prints, fun fabrics, and of course sequins to shine bright. “If the quality of the fabric wasn’t up to par, I wasn’t doing it,” Parker declared.

Also, buyers can expect to see the collection displayed front and center in Macy’s, unlike the placements many plus-size sections have in retail stores. “Sometimes you feel like you’re getting a drug deal,” Parker jokingly said. “It’s like, ‘Why do we have to feel like we’re being alienated because of our size?”’
