On Monday, May 9, police seized marijuana worth over $4 million during an operation on the Fullerswood main road in St Elizabeth, Jamaica.

According to reports, around 4:30 p.m., police were conducting a vehicular checkpoint operation when they signaled the driver of an Isuzu motor truck to stop. The driver complied, but then ran from the truck and fled into the area.

The truck was seized and later searched. Several bags of compressed marijuana weighing approximately 1065 pounds were discovered hidden under grass bales. The street value of the drug is estimated to be $4.26 million.

According to the police high command, the latest seizure follows a reported increase in anti-narcotics activity by the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
