South-African born artiste Belinda Davis was recognized for her contribution to the music industry at the UK’s National Tribute Music Awards held in Droitwich last week.

Davis rose to stardom riding on the music goddess Whitney Houston – she literally brings Whitney back to life. The Whitney-double will go on to perform sell out shows and even go on a tour. Famous for the hit show “The Greatest Love of All; A Tribute to Whitney Houston that took the world by surprise. Davis was recognized for her “global contribution to tribute performing” and “revolutionary influence on the music industry”.

This follows her winning BBC TV’s Even Better than the Real Thing musical contest in 2017. UK audience’s support and reception for her and the classic tribute show over the years has surprised her absolutely.

Port Elizabeth-born Davis was enthralled to be recognized in such a big way in a competitive market. She says “I feel honored to have had my life’s work and my craft recognized, especially here in the UK. As an artist, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing that you affect people, that you make a difference in people’s lives, in whatever way that is,”

The crowd got to hear her perform three of Whitney’s tracks for the televised red-carpet which was held at the stately Chateau Impney in Worcestershire on 3rd July.

And that’s not all – the global show is set to host a series of Special Orchestral concerts in Cape Town between 20th November and 1st December this year. Davis is thrilled to return to SA for the year-end concert holding in Artscape Opera House, Cape Town. This will be the first time she will be visiting SA with the Orchestra.

Davis will work with her team to deliver an amazing orchestra that will be remembered for a long time. “I am really looking forward to it” – “to be on stage at home in SA and share my love singing with my people”, she says.

Also on schedule is The Greatest Love of All: A tribute to Whitney Houston starring Belinda Davis will be performed with special orchestra at The Mandela at Joburg Civic theater from 5th – 28th June 2020.

The Houston-lookalike fell in love with Houston way back. She says, the legendary musician’s voice was so pure and clean and crisp and clear like the gospel; singing The Greatest Love of All at her primary school concert.
