Sometime last year the Ghanaian President themed 2019 the Year of the Great Return Ghana. According to him, it’s been four hundred years since the first slave ships came to take slaves to Europe and it is time to welcome them home.

It’s already begun as some of our favorite celebs visited Ghana over the last week led by the famous actor, Boris Kodjoe. You will remember that the actor hosted the recently held Full Circle Festival that was also held in Ghana.

Kodjoe came along with his adorable wife, Nicole Ari Parker. She came on the trip with a beautiful afro. Other celebs that tagged along on the trip include Idris Elba, Gabourey Sidibe, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Rosario Dawson, Michael Jai White, and Cynthia Bailey.

Jidenna, the half-Nigerian artiste, performed on the trip. While recounting his experience on the trip he said the festival is definitely a turning point for the Black race.

A.J. Johnson, the Baby boy star, connected with her roots by being baptized in the very waters her ancestors were transported through to Europe. According to her, she felt their love and pain as she was being baptized, her heart filled with tears. She said she could also feel their gratitude to her for always remembering them.

The trip was quite emotional for Kodjoe as his late father was a native of Ghana. He took some time out to pay a tribute to his father, speaking very deep words.
