The 2019 Year of Return in Ghana, is going down in history as one of the most iconic initiatives. The influx of African Americans and other people of African descent into the continent, especially Ghana has marked the beginning of a paradigm shift. Both celebs and regular people are nostalgic about the mother land and want to move back home to her. In this vain, Jennifer kessie, a Virginia based chemical engineer, has announced that she would be moving back to Ghana after she deliberately refused to get on her flight back to the United States.
The lady, Jennifer Kessie took to her facebook account to chronicle her experience at the Year of Return, thereby announcing her resolve.
“I’m in Ghana for the year of return and literally having the time of my life!!! I was supposed to get on a plane yesterday but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
A mere two weeks stay has extended into something more than twice that!
The best thing about being here is not being “a black girl”…I’m just a girl. My actions or behavior isn’t magically a reflection of my whole race. I didn’t realize how heavy that burden stood on my head until I didn’t have it anymore.
Wherever I went I stoop tall and straight and everyone I mean everyone was always so happy to see me!
It’s so nice and I’m so so sad that I have to leave eventually but definitely getting my ducks and a row to move here permanently. Home will always be home wherever you live!
Go home y’all! Go home ??”
Well, if you are yet to visit the motherland, I think it’s high time you got on a flight back and experience the magic that everyone is hooked on.
