Halima Aden migrated to the US with her Somali parents when she was just 6. By 2016 she was breaking boundaries at the Miss Minnesota USA pageant as she refused to walk the runway without her hijab.

Halima has decided to let us in on her secret routine for a glowing skin and rose gold party eyes for a perfect look to any party. As she dabbed pigments of burgundy to her lids she said, “It’s so hard to try to look cute while doing this,” while looking at her reflection in the mirror.

Before applying the mask to her face she ensured that it was scrubbed flawlessly clean. She then rolls up the serum-soaked sheet mask and applies it all over her face, ensuring it gets to every nook and cranny. After letting it stay on a while, she splashes some cold water on her face and playfully says, “I feel like cold water makes my pores look smaller, but y’all can check me because I’m not a scientist.”

She follows this by exfoliating with Tatcha’s The Deep Cleanse Wash and then applied some Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream before adding a drop of oil. In rounding off she adds, “you need to have a good skin-care regimen, because if [your skin] looks nice [from the inside out], makeup is just effortless.”

Halima says the first step towards a flawless finish is a primer that reduces oiliness. To achieve this she warms up the primer with her fingertips and spreads it all over. As she whips out a brown pencil to fill in her arches she says, “You know how they say eyebrows should be like sisters, not twins?” As she continues, “Well, mine aren’t even talking. It’s a family feud.”

She then compacts Beautyblender into a spot of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation using the back of her hand as a palette before she starts tapping. She then uses a deep wine shade of Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick softly for her lips, cheeks and eyes. As she does this she says, “I wear [a] hijab, so the way I decide how I want my makeup to look is: If I’m wearing a colorful head scarf, I want my makeup to reflect that, [That’s how] you get your money’s worth, girl.”

She then uses Huda Beauty’s Rose Gold Remastered Eyeshadow Palette to bump up her gaze. To create three-fold effect she creates a mix of chocolate brown, metallic, and dark black truffle hues. To cap it up she engraves razor-sharp cat-eyes with Fenty Beauty’s Flyliner. Halima then beams a smile saying, “I’m done and ready to go party now!”
