The Lion King

The Lion King has made great strides since its release and it has finally earned a groundbreaking  status. Cinema Blend reported that the Disney movie remake has reached over 1.3 billion dollars  in worldwide gross earnings.

Lion King has clinched the position of highest grossing animated movie release of all time. It edged out Frozen, which occupied the number 1 position formerly.

Just behind Frozen ($1.277 billion) is Incredibles 2 ($1.242 billion), Minions ($1.15 billion), Toy Story 3, Despicable Me 3, Finding Dory and Zootopia (all being worldwide gross earnings without being adjusted by inflation)

It has also joined the hot list of “top movie earners” that has crossed the 1 billion dollars  mark. Just in case you’re  wondering what movies are on the list, they include: Avengers: Endgame, Captain  Marvel and Aladdin.

Toy Story 4 is already setting its sight for the number 5 position. The movie has already made over 919.1 million dollars in just five weeks of its debut release.

Right from the debut release of The Lion King in July, it amassed over 728 million dollars on a global scale under just ten days. As it stands now, the Lion King movie remake has earned over 638 million dollars overseas and 361 million dollars at the domestic box office.

With all these top earnings, Disney remains invincible and a powerhouse in the movie world.

Just recently, Disney hit 7.67 billion dollars worldwide with a previous record of 7.61 billion dollars in 2016. Also, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Frozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (which are all produced by Disney) will soon be  released.

Now, Disney has about 38% of the domestic share, which is likely to increase beyond 40% as Fox joins in.

CONCLUSION

From the exhaling movie to the excellent visuals, star-studded cast and scintillating musical hits, The Lion King  has proven its dominating status and still has the capacity to earn more!!

With all these feats, do I hear “Oscar bells”???
