The coronavirus pandemic got on the nerves of everyone and people took to what ever form of coping mechanisms and entertainment they could find. Whilst some of us consumed the entertainment; others came up with creative ways to bring laughter and that is how Elsa Majimbo became a sensation.
19 year old Elsa Majimbo is an internet comedian from Nairobi, Kenya. Her satirical monologues usually feature her crunching potato crisps; leaning back to a pillow and using a tiny 1990s sunglasses as a prop.
For all her comic videos which fast became a sensation, Elsa has been recently awarded this year’s People’s Choice Award by E! in the African Social Star category. The award comes after the 18-year-old took social media by storm after sharing a hilarious video of how the COVID-19 lockdown; had actually given her an opportunity to avoid seeing people.

For bringing the much needed humor, Elsa Majimbo has since bagged a number of interviews with both local and international media platforms. Additionally, she’s secured several bags having collaborated with MAC Cosmetics and Rihanna’s FENTY as well as scored an appearance in a recent advertisement celebrating creative talent by South Africa’s Chicken Licken franchise. It’s certainly upwards and onwards for this budding star.
