Dalton Harris is famous for being the champion of the 2018 edition of the UK XFactor. Well considering how well his new song is doing, he is becoming famous for more than just being the XFactor champion. The song Power of Love, which was performed by Dalton at the finale of the competition featuring James Arthur, the 2012 XFactor winner, made its debut at number four on the British Singles Chart just yesterday.
Power of love is Dalton’s cover to the hit Frankie goes to Hollywood released in 1984 and topped the British pop charts. Within hours of its release, Dalton’s cover had topped the United Kingdom iTunes charts. The song which was put on iTunes shortly after it was performed at the finale on Sunday is also topping the charts in Scotland and is number 35 in Ireland.
Dalton Harris is one of the elite few to have become instant successes from the XFactor competition in the UK. Others include Shayne Ward, the 2005 winner, Leona Lewis (2006), Alexandra Burke (2008), the girl group Lil Max (2011), and James Arthur (2012). As interesting as this may sound, the biggest hits from the competition have not been the winners.
A great example is One Direction, the boy band that came third in 2010. They already have 15 singles among the Top 20 list, sold above 15 million records all over the world and have recorded seven albums. All of their albums have entered the UK Album chart, of these have reached the number one spot on the charts.
