And the interesting thing is that she clinched the title as a NEW MOTHER! Who says mothers are not superhuman?

The ground breaking win has also put the American track and field star ahead of famous athlete, Usain Bolt. According to NBC Sports, Allyson Felix was part of the winning team which included Courtney Okolo, Wilbert London and Michael Cherry in the first ever mixed relay this past Sunday. In the mixed relay, two men and two women team up for four trips around the track. The phenomenal group of four finished at a world-breaking record time of 3:09.34 at the tournament.

In an interview with NBCSN, Allyson regarded the moment as a special one because her 10-month old daughter was present at the event. “So special, to have my daughter here watching means the world to me, it’s been a crazy year for me”, said Allyson. The athlete gave birth to her daughter, Camryn, prematurely about 10 months ago. She also had a complicated pregnancy due to a severe preeclampsia.

After opening up about her motherhood status, Allyson disclosed that Nike proposed to pay her seventy percent lesser than the usual digits because of her decision to start a family.
Presently, Felix is signed with Athleta, where she enjoys a steady contract and compensation agreement and covers full protection in competitions during her pregnancy.

CONCLUSION

It is amazing to see how despite her challenges with pregnancy and career-related hitches, she rose above it all and emerged a record-breaking winner. “I think everything I went through this year….it just brings it all back that it’s so much bigger than myself,’ Felix said.

Her teammate and gold medalist, Courtney Okolo, also praised Allyson Felix for her courage and doggedness. “It’s definitely an inspiration to all women. You see the journey she’s been on this year, and now you’re seeing a lot of women can do that and come back successfully. I know that when the time comes for me to have kids, it’s something I can do, as well”, said Okolo.
Bravo Allyson!
