In a recent interview with Essence, the couple discussed the impact of online trolls on their lives and why they chose to keep their son Wave’s name a secret.”

The pair intended to protect their family from the same fate when Wave was born in September 2021.

Cardi B, 29, and Offset, 30, named their 7-month-old son Wave Set Cephus and posted the first photographs of the newborn on Thursday.

Wave was wearing a blue fur coat and a big diamond chain, as Cardi captioned her Instagram image.

Wave was also revealed to the world on Instagram, where Offset shared a lovely photo of the baby staring up at someone off-camera while wearing a slew of blinged-out necklaces.

Offset wrote, “WAVE SET CEPHUS,” revealing the baby’s complete name.

Cardi said on Twitter after the big reveal that Offset was the one who came up with the baby’s name.

“I was sold when Set mentioned Wave! “THAT HAD TO BE HIS NAME!” she tweeted, accompanied by a video of a piece of jewelry that spelled out his name.

Cardi originally announced the birth of her kid with a romantic Instagram picture in September 2021.

The “WAP” singer announced the news alongside a photo of herself in her hospital bed, clutching her baby boy and sitting close to Offset.

We are so overjoyed to finally meet our son,” the couple said in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
