The Oscar-winning rapper, Common, and political activist and speaker, Angela Rye, broke the internet with their break up in March 2018. Since the breakup, the rapper has not spoken a word to the press. He, however, had a chat with ESSENCE speaking about his relationship with Rye and lessons he learned while dating the activist.
Common has a pedigree for close relationships with his exes, in fact, he recently hosted a show with his ex, Serena Williams. The rapper said he learned a whole lot while the almost a year-old relationship lasted. Among the things Common learned according to him is that Rye is an incredible woman who is the very definition of amazing.
He went to say that it is always interesting to have a person that one enjoys being with as a partner and who you can really understand. Common said they had broken up a while before people noticed she didn’t walk the red carpet with him at the last Oscars.
Rye, while speaking to Page Six TV, confirmed that they are still friends and will always be. She described him as an amazing human being and appreciated his impact in her life, making her a better person.
