NBA Africa has this week welcomed two strategic investors in its sponsors bucket list. Dr. Dambisa Moyo and Forest Whitaker are the latest leaders to invest in NBA Africa. As strategic investors the two will be involved in finance sourcing, activism and empowerment of the club.

Dambisa hails from Zambia and is a global economist, international public speaker and author. She has also previously worked as a consultant for the World Bank and research economist at Goldman Sachs.

Whitaker on the other hand is an American author, director, activist and humanitarian. He is also the CEO of Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative- a non-profit organization that is keen in promoting peace and social development within the communities.

The two leaders are elated to join NBA Africa as investors. In her part, Dambisa had this to say concerning the opportunity to invest with the club, “I have loved sport all my life and I am hugely grateful for the opportunity to support basketball in Africa at an elite level. Basketball has a great capacity to be a positive force for communities across this amazing continent.”

On his part Whitaker noted “The game of basketball is incredibly inspirational, and my decade working in Africa has shown me how sports can be a transformative method of helping foster peace, as well as an economic engine for socioeconomic development in areas of conflict. I too deeply believe in the league’s commitment to youth empowerment and am so excited to work alongside the NBA Africa family.”
