It has been a really turbulent journey to motherhood for Gabrielle Union, especially with her diagnosis of adenomyosis and several miscarriages. We recently reported that Dwayne Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, had been blessed with a daughter on November 7 from a surrogate process. Not long after the birth of their daughter, the couple was in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In their interview, they were completely open about the long road to becoming parents, the challenges they faced, the backlash they got from announcing that they needed the help of a surrogate in birthing Kaavia James, and posting the baby’s first picture on social media.
Wade said so many people kept coming at his wife asking why she was acting like she actually carried the baby and birthed her herself. It was really emotional for Gabrielle as she tried hard to put herself together. She said she was definitely still drowned in the ecstasy of having a daughter even though she wished she had actually carried the pregnancy herself after trying for several years.
Wade has had 3 other children while Kaavia is the couple’s first child together. Gabrielle admitted she never wanted kids till she spent time being a stepmom to Wade’s son. It dawned on her she actually wanted to have a child of her own and she had been trying to ever since.
The star actress went on to share her experiences being a stepmom to Wade’s sons and how it felt like being a mother.
