DanceHall Diva Moyann after her debut last summer is quickly carving out a niche for her brand of sassy dancehall music.

She is building momentum with her latest single, ABC 1-2-3.

“I am getting play across the UK, US, Africa — the response is worldwide. I got added to two Spotify major playlists, so things are moving very quickly,” said the 19-year-old.

“Music is something that I have always wanted to do and now that I have the chance, I am going to give it my all.”

Released last Friday, ABC 1-2-3 is produced by DJ Frass. A video was released yesterday.

Moyann (whose full name is Moyann Montique) grew up in Montego Bay, where she attended Irwin High before graduating.

While studying logistics at Caribbean Maritime University in Kingston, she decided to follow her musical passion during her sophomore year. Her parents supported her decision.

She eventually reached out to DJ Frass in 2017, sending him a demo. He eventually got back to her in 2018, and she inked a recording deal with DJ Frass Records.

She released her first song, Netflixxx and Chill, as part of a riddim project that featured dancehall heavyweights such as Alkaline, a combination between Mavado and Stefflon Don, Kranium and Jahmeil.

“I wrote all the lyrics for Netflixxx and Chill and DJ Frass helped me to structure the song and how to deliver it,” she said.

“I have my own unique style; I draw my inspiration from my own personal experiences and my surroundings. I am a feminist and an independent woman, but I explore all kinds of themes in my music,” she ended.
