Kareem Bishi is an elated man after he finally graduated from Georgia State University with a 4.0+ GPA. This is a dream come true for a man who was forced to teach himself html in 48 hours as a means of earning his survival after leaving Nigeria for America. Bishi has since been using his knowledge in the Programme to create websites for professors.

His American mom, Constance Barkley Lewis was over the moon and couldn’t fathom the news that her godson was finally graduating. Congratulating him on her LinkedIn account, Barkley narrated to the world how Kareem had beaten all odds to survive and finally graduate in a foreign land. She told of the hardships the young man had endured working full time and studying at the same time.

In her words she noted, “Yesterday my godson Kareem Bishi graduated from Georgia State University with a 4.0+ GPA in Computer Science while working full time. I met him when he was working as a professional photographer and was lucky to have him adopt me as his mother. For 10 years he has been my son, friend, and mentor. He arrived from Nigeria, taught himself html in 48hour so he could support himself creating websites for professors.”

“He has made many sacrifices for his education yet is always ready to help others. His accomplishments are large enough on their own, but as a black man from another country to achieve at this level despite economic and social constraints and obstacles deserves a standing ovation,” Barkley concluded.

Hundreds of followers flocked the comment section to congratulate Kareem and Barkley for the achievement. Amongst those in the comment section was Kareem who praised his American mom for being with him through thick and thin.

Kareem noted, “It was the anniversary of my mom’s passing and I was in the blues. Somehow you did what she would normally have done-perform acts of inexplicable generosity. I got teary-eyed and explained the occasion and how you uplifted me in the moment. And just like that, you became my “American mom.”
