BLACK EXCELLENCE! THE INSPIRING LIFE OF CURTIS CAROLL

Financial literacy isn’t a skill — it’s a lifestyle. Take it from Curtis “Wall Street” Carroll. As an incarcerated individual, Caroll knows the power of a dollar, an inmate teaching finance behind bars, Curtis Carroll turned his life around in San Quentin by earning the financial markets.
Born in Washington DC, Curtis an African American child grew up in Oakland California, with his mother and entire family committed to crack cocaine, he committed his first crime at the age 14, later jailed for his crimes in 1995 at the age of 17. While in prison, he taught himself how to read at age 20, excited about the fact that he could read, he picked interest in stock trading and started to trade stocks, and co-founded a program called “Financial Empowerment Emotional Literacy”(FEEL) which teaches how to separate emotional decisions from financial decisions, inspired by his story the TED talks channel invited the great thinker to one their conferences where he gave his inspiring speech for 18minutes and shared a simple, powerful message: he quoted” incarcerated people need this life skills before going into the society” he spoke about financial illiteracy in the African American community, “we all need to be more savvy with our money”.
If you are free and still think you can’t make it, think about the fact that, Being illiterate and poor and growing up in a tough environment may have led Carroll to prison, but he hasn’t allowed this to define his present or his future, Curtis Caroll’s story and achievements while in a confined space will inspire you to appreciate the freedom that you have and ALWAYS PUSH FORWARD FOR A BETTER FUTURE NO MATTER THE CONDITION YOU FIND YOURSELF.
