As of Friday July 5, over one thousand Haitian nationals have been arrested since June 10 by immigration.  “Illegal migration of Haiti nationals into US are on the rise”. This was disclosed by Chief patrol officer of the United States Customs and Boarder (CBP) agency. Chief patrol Agent, Raul L Ortiz, in charge of Del Rio Sector, Texas noted that the movement is posing challenges. “The agency will continue to do all it can to care for family units with small children” he added.

These included arrests in a group of 100 and 200 made on June 22, and 24 respectively. CBP disclosed that before June 10 this year, only 17 persons of Haiti nationals have been arrested.

“One unusual aspect of the family units is that they include a biological minor who is a national of a third country, usually in South America. It was discovered that roughly 800 of the 1,000 arrests are members of the same family unit and include over 230 minors who are citizens of a third country, such as Chile or Brazil.”

Restrictions creating problems?

Restrictions in the US continue to tighten; the CBP saying more than 40,000 apprehensions have been made this year alone. The nationality about 34,000 of those apprehended cover over 49 countries including Mexico; the number of which is more than double the total number of arrests made in the past year.

President Trump while speaking to the press admits that there is problem of overcrowding in immigration camps. Prior to that, Caribbean American Democratic Congresswoman, Yvette Clarke, voted in favor of a 4.5 Million USD border emergency bill in the US House of Assembly . This bill is capable of tackling the issue which she called a “humanitarian situation”.
