Koffi Kingston, a wrestler of Ghanaian-American descent, rewrote WWE history at Wrestlemania 35 last Sunday. Wrestlemania, the biggest calendar event of the WWE held at the MetLife Stadium located in New Jersey.

He squared off against titleholder, Daniel Bryan in what could be termed a highly entertaining and feisty encounter. Kingston finished off his opponent with his signature “Trouble in Paradise” move to win the championship bout.

This victory makes the 37-year-old Ghana-born wrestler the first native African and the second black man to win the WWE Championship. His New Day teammates and two sons joined him to celebrate the big victory at the ringside.
