She was called the Mother-in-chief while in office, wife of former US President, Michelle Obama graced the front cover of Ebony magazine for the December 2018/January 2019 Power issue.

During the interview Michelle said, “I have to say that I wish the world turned to Black women more often than it does—I think it’s because we’ve got a perspective all our own.”

Ebony Magazine made the announcement on their Instagram page with a sneak peek at the cover page of the magazine. They also added the caption, “We are in awe! The EBONY Power 100 issue star shares her experiences as First Lady, valuable takeaways about education, running for president and how we can bolster the self-confidence of Young Black America in today’s political climate. Make your way to EBONY.com for more on the Dec/Jan #EBONYPower100 issue.”

In the exclusive interview with Miles Marshall Lewis she discusses her journey from the streets to the White House. She also tells how she developed to become one of the most celebrated first ladies of all time and why she will not run for President of the US. She says she prefers to focus on public service and taking care of her family.

The Ebony Power Issue is a special edition in which Ebony honors black men and women who have impacted the world positively.  You could call them black heroes but they are people who have made impact in entertainment, politics, sports, business, and other spheres of influence over the last year. This tradition has existed for the over seventy years.
