Wizkid is one of the most popular Nigeria artiste of the past decade. His songs are club bangers and he has had several collaborations with both Nigerian and international acts. He is definitely one of Nigeria’s biggest music exports. Recently the governor of Minnesota declared October 6th as Wizkid Day.

Wizkid was christened Ibrahim Ayodeji Balogun and he is fondly called “Starboy” by his fans. The honor accorded him by the Minnesota Governor is for his huge contributions to music on the global scale. It is now news that Wizkid’s songs tell the African tale using a modified version of the famous afrobeat.

Some of Wizkid’s major achievements as a music artiste include selling out the O2 arena in London, working with Drake on a song titled “One dance,” and being the premier African to sell out the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis. Asides this Wizkid has several feathers to his cap as he has won several awards including MTV and BET awards.

There is no doubt that Wizkid deserves the honor of having his own day especially when he has made a lot of effort to keep African culture alive. Wizkid is not a stranger to setting records and being honored by the Minnesota Governor is no mean feat.

The proclamation was made and sealed with the official seal of Minnesota, United States. The proclamation was duly appended by the Governor.
