For the first time a female rapper has been nominated for a spot in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, her name, Missy Elliot. The rapper received the news with great joy.


Missy expressed her joy at the nomination in a post on her twitter account which read, “I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers. Congratulations to all of them also.”

If Missy amasses enough votes she will become the first female rapper and only the third rapper after Jermaine Dupri and Jay Z to be added to the elite league of Songwriters. Other acts to be nominated into the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame class include Mariah Carey, Annie Lenox, Dallas Austin, John Prine, Roger Nichols, Mike Edward Love, Jerry Fuller, Dave Stewart, jack Tempchin, Jerry Fuller, Dean Dillon, Chrissie Hynde, Jeff Lyne, Jimmy Cliff, Tom T. Hall, Cat Stevens, Tommy James, and Lloyd Price.

Missy Elliot has dropped so many great hits some of which include “Get Ur Freak on,” “Lose control,” and “Work it.” Missy has also worked on several projects with other artists as a songwriter. Some of these artists include Janet Jackson, Aaliyah Dana Haughton, Whiney Houston, Ciara, and Mariah Carey.
