It is indeed a very sad time for nicki minaj as she just lost her father Robert Maraj. He died after he got hit by a car in a hit and run accident. He died at age 64.
A representative for Minaj and a spokesperson from the Nassau County Police Department; have both confirmed her father’s death to Billboard.
On Friday evening (Feb. 12), Maraj was struck by a vehicle while walking on a road in Mineola; N.Y., according to a press release from the Nassau County Police Department. According to detectives, Maraj was walking in the roadway on Roslyn Road at the intersection of Raff Avenue around 6 p.m.; when he was struck a vehicle heading northbound. The unidentified vehicle fled the scene of the accident; and has not yet been identified by law enforcement.
Robert Maraj was transported to an area hospital and listed in critical condition. A hospital physician pronounced his death the following day, per the release.
Homicide detectives are currently investigating the hit-and-run incident and have not apprehended a suspect. Authorities are asking for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
Minaj hadn’t commented on her father’s death on social media as of press time. It’s unclear what type of relationship Minaj who recently became a mother for the first time; had with her father; but she has been seen photographed alongside him in recent the years.
