Nigerian-born fighter, Kamaru Usman, has become the first African to win a UFC title. He pummeled Tyron Woodley at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to win the title in a one-sided bout. The 31-year-old fighter made his way into the UFC in 2015 through the long-term reality show.

On his way to the title fight, he won his first eight bouts including battering former champion, Rafael Dos Anjos in November.

Woodley has held the UFC title since July 2016 in the 170-pound category, over this period he has defended the title four times. Usman, since his first fight, never let off an opportunity for the title and sure did justice when he had his chance.

The Nigerian fighter won by a unanimous decision, 50-44 on two cards and on the third, 50-45. Usman said he had longed to get a chance at the title for ages, he agrees that even though he might not be the best wrestler in the world, he is the best right now.
