Sports wear giant Honors NBA Legend, late kobe Bryant. Fashion Week is in full swing in New York City as many brands are putting on these elaborate fashion shows to show off their latest designs. Nike was no different as they debuted their 2020 Tokyo Olympics Collection on Wednesday.
However, before the show, the brand paid tribute to Kobe Bryant as six children walked on to the stage wearing Kobe’s Lakers jerseys. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the children walked on to the stage and stood in front of an audience that included some pretty big names, including Drake, Gabby Douglas, Virgil Abloh, Nike CEO John Donahoe and many others.
Kobe had signed a deal with Nike back in 2003 and created many shoes under the brand throughout the years. Just last month, he launched the Kobe V Protro Chaos. Following his passing, Nike sold out of all of their Kobe Bryant apparel.
As we previously reported, Kobe Bryant, unfortunately, passed away last month, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven other beautiful souls. It was just announced that there would be a memorial service for Kobe, Gianna, and the other victims held at the Staples Center held on February 24th.
Eric Garrett, the mayor of Los Angeles spoke about the memorial and said, “I think one message that I would say is that it’s not just about a man who was a basketball player, this is about a father, this is about a leader, this is about a filmmaker, this is about an artists, this is about somebody who was so much more than just how he was on the court.”
On Friday, Vanessa Bryant shared the official poster announcing the memorial.
