Former POTUS and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, unveiled a slate of projects to be released on Netflix last Tuesday. The couple had signed a contract with the entertainment streaming platform last year.

The announcement was made by their production company, Higher Ground Productions. The company announced that seven movies, serials, and documentaries which will entertain, educate, inspire, and connect us all will be released on Netflix soon.

Among the different projects is a movie on Frederick Douglass. It is an adaptation of David W. Blight’s Pulitzer award-winning biography. There is also a documentary adaptation of Michael Lewis’ “Fifth Risk: Undoing Democracy.”

The company is also working on an upstairs-downstairs drama which is set in post-World War II New York. The drama is titled “Bloom” and it adapts the “Overlooked” obituary column of the New York Times which reveals unreported deaths by the paper. There is also a show for the preschoolers which runs for half an hour titled “Listen To Your Vegetables & Eat Your Parents.” It is majorly targeted at teaching children about food.

According to BlackAmericaWeb, Michelle said, “We love this slate because it spans so many different interests and experiences, yet it’s all woven together with stories that are relevant to our daily lives. We think there’s something here for everyone — moms and dads, curious kids, and anyone simply looking for an engaging, uplifting watch at the end of a busy day.”

The projects are going to be released over the next few years.
