The National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago announced on Wednesday last week that the President of the organization, Edwin E. Bayley, had drowned. The announcement disclosed that the amiable Bayley drowned early last week at the Grande Riviere Beach which is around the north coast of the country.

NDATT is a condolence statement to Bayley’s husband described him as an amazing designer who had a passion for his work and vision for the advancement of his nation. According to the spokesperson for NDATT, Bayley was a designer who constantly pushed the limits, thinking outside the box to deliver top-notch designs on every project. Bayley was humble to a fault in his day-to-day dealings.

Bayley had once taught at the Performing Arts Academy at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. He was also a qualified scenographer and architect with a Master’s Degree in the Arts which he bagged from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London.

Summing up Bayley’s work, NDATT said he had designed above a hundred productions cutting across different genres of dance and drama in the United States, Venezuela, Colombia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Bayley moved to Trinidad and Tobago in 2014 and has been immense in his work with local companies, theatres, and clients.

Till his death, Edwin Bayley was a prominent member of the LGBTQI community in Trinidad and he was married to Raymer Diaz.
