Trouble, an Atlanta rap veteran who had released a slew of albums and mixtapes, was fatally shot early Sunday. The rapper was 34 years old.
According to The Root, Trouble, born Mariel Semonte Orr, was killed in a home invasion at Lake St. James Apartments in Conyers, Georgia, at 3:20 a.m. Rockdale County Sheriff’s spokesperson Jedida Canty stated at a press conference that the suspect, 33-year-old Jamichael Jones, was wanted for murder, home invasion, and aggravated assault.
“We know that there are a lot of people who are really upset right now and brokenhearted about the situation,” Canty said.
Trouble’s label, Def Jam, confirmed his death in an Instagram post, writing, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble. A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented. RIP Skoob.”

Trouble was paying a visit to a female friend when Jones, the suspect, barged into her apartment and fatally shot the rapper in the chest. The woman was unharmed. “Mr. Jamichael Jones did know the female, and it was a domestic dispute, the suspect and the victim did not know each other,” Canty said.
The police are still looking for Jones in order to apprehend him. However, they are currently unaware of his current whereabouts. “We did search the known locations that we thought he may be at, but we didn’t have any luck finding him,” Canty said at the news conference.
Edgewood, Trouble’s debut album, was released in 2018. Pop stars Drake and The Weeknd made cameo appearances.
Thug Luv, his most recent album, was released in April 2020. It featured well-known artists such as 2 Chainz, Quavo, Jeezy, and City Girls.
