Reports have it that iconic actor, Robert De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower have split up after being married for 20 years. The couple exchanged nuptial vows in 1997 and have two children together, Elliot and Helen Grace, but have been staying apart for a while as reported by several media in the US.
De Niro, 75 and Grace, 63 tied the knot 20 years ago in what was his second marriage. A source told People magazine that “Sometimes things don’t work out the way you hope or want them to.”
This is not the first time the couple is splitting, they had parted ways in 1999, barely two years after their wedding. They reconciled in 2004 and renewed their vows only to split again this time. Neither party has released an official statement concerning the split as yet.
De Niro, one of America’s most celebrated actors and a holder of two Oscars is known to keep his private and family business out of the spotlight. Only last month Robert De Niro made the headlines as one of President Trump’s critics that received crude pipe bombs in their mailboxes. It is recorded however that none of the bombs exploded and the suspected perpetrator is currently awaiting trial.
De Niro has four other children, two from his ex-wife and a set of twins from his ex-girlfriend.
