Sanaa Lathan discussed her role in the new series “The Twilight Zone” by Jordan Peele in an interview with Vulture. The new series launched April 1 and you can get the latest installments on CBS All Access every week from April 11.
The original series was created by Rod Sterling and it ran from 1959 to 1964 showing a total of 80 episodes.
The famous screen diva starred as Nina in the third episode of the series titled “Replay.” Nina is a woman who gained the opportunity to go back in time to alter her past after finding her lost camcorder. It actually came in handy with an encounter she and her son had with a racist and violent cop.
In this interview, Lathan discusses her challenges with the role and what she would love to do is she has the opportunity to return to the show. A few excerpts from the interview can be read below:
How difficult was it to play the role of a character that had to go through the same situation twice?
It was quite challenging and difficult, majorly because everything was done out of order. This can be attributed to the fact that due to budget and location constraints, we didn’t have the luxury of doing things in order. An example is that all the acting in the diner was done on the same day or in a few days. This meant you might start with a certain scene and the next scene would be the end of the story. Due to the emotional journey of my character, I needed to practice where she would be and take myself there.
