George Floyd left behind a six year old daughter, Gianna Floyd. After George was laid to rest in Texas; the Texas Southern University announced their offer of a full scholarship to Gianna.
TSU’s Board of Regents took to social media to announce that they have “approved a fund to provide a full scholarship for Floyd’s beloved daughter, Gianna,” adding, “TSU’s executive and academic staff will prepare a place for Miss Floyd if she wishes to attend the University.”
Additionally, Gianna Floyd, recently fell into the spotlight after a viral video showed her exclaiming, “Daddy changed the world.”
Also, At a press event last week, Gianna’s mother, Roxie Washington also spoke candidly about her loss and her daughter’s.
“I wanted everybody to know that this is what those officers took from me; “Washington said with Gianna next to her. “At the end of the day, they get to go home and be with their families. Gianna does not have a father.”
“The board is committed to education and understands that a college degree is one of many powerful steps toward a productive and successful life,” said Albert H. Myres, chairman of the board of regents. “We know that this gesture cannot take the place of her dad’s loving presence, but we hope that it will contribute to easing her journey through life.”
