There was a peaceful protest in front of the Danish Embassy in Marrakech, the Moroccan tourist capital. The protest was carried out by the Association of Tourist guides in Marrakech and the purpose was clear, to renounce their involvement in the murder of two Scandinavian tourists in Morocco.

Scandinavian hikers, 24-year-old Louisa Vesterager Jespersen, a Danish student, and 28-year-old Maren Ueland from Norway, were found dead recently. Their murder has been described as a result of terrorism and the Moroccan police have made several arrests connecting to the murder over the past few days.

Hassan Mahroug, a member of the Regional Association of Guides issued a statement on behalf of the body saying they totally condemn the murder of the hikers as an act of ignorance and barbarity. He went on to state that the body worked tirelessly to ensure peace, fraternity and friendship exist on earth.


Currently, about thirteen people, directly or indirectly connected with the terrorist murder, have been arrested by the Moroccan police. The bodies of the deceased hikers are being repatriated.
