Serena Williams, the legendary tennis star, got knocked out of the Australian Open two days ago after she picked up an injury in what would have been a massive comeback victory. She was just a point away from victory when she rolled her left ankle.
In a quarterfinal game against seventh-seeded Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic, Serena dropped the final six games of what would have ended up being her ticket to the Semi-finals of the competition. The game ended 6-4, 4-6, and 7-5 in favor of the Czech player. This is just an ironic story which has Serena knocked out of the pursuit of her eight major Australian Open trophy and Pliskova still in the race for her first ever major trophy.
The last time Serena lost in the fourth round of the Australian Open was in 2014 to Ana Ivanovic. Since then she has played in the finals, winning in 2015 and 2017 and coming second-place in 2016. She, however, did not compete in 2018 as the competition was just a few months after she had her baby.
