The Guinness Book of records is filled with several weird records that have been set by different people, we just had a new record added, the tallest politician in the world. Last Wednesday, a black councilman from Brooklyn, Robert Cornegy Jr. was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest politician in the world.
He first entered for this record in 2017 but he received his certificate at a ceremony held at the City Hall last Wednesday. He was officially certified on January 14, 2019, with a height of 6 feet 10 inches. Robert acknowledged the fact that his height came with its ups and downs. He also described the challenges he faced when he went shopping.
Before Robert received his crown, Sir Louis Gluckstein, a British politician used to hold the same title at a towering height of 6 feet 7.5 inches. Sir Gluckstein died in 1979. Robert is the tallest man to ever hold this title and he used to play pro basketball for a short time in Israel and Turkey before becoming a councilman in 2013.
He also founded the Cornegy Residence treatment center which focuses on helping chemically dependent men. The center is located in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Robert spends his spare time counseling men suffering from mental issues and drug abuse.
