On May 20, 2016, 29-year-old Antonio Ladson was shot 6 times till he died in Fulton County and now after 3 years since the incidence Joe Rayton a 49-year-old father has been convicted of his murder. Joe’s son, Joe Adam apparently stole drugs and cash to the tune of a $100 from Ladson 3 days before the incident. Rather than paying for his son’s theft, he decided to kill Ladson.
The reports say that Joe and Adam were driven from their Ellenwood home to a residence in North-West Atlanta by Darrius ‘Dread’ Winfield. They arrived at their destination on Elmwood road at about 1:30 am. Ladson was sitting in front of his car in front of his home. Ray came out of the car went to him had a short conversation with him. Joe threw a mason jar containing marijuana at him as a source of distraction and started shooting at him. He shot him four times in the chest according to authorities and while he tried to escape to the back seat of the car he shot again twice in the lower back and buttocks, making a total of 6 shots with a 40 caliber handgun. Ladson died on the spot.
They returned to Ellenwood and met up with Mrs. Rayton at a filling station at about 5.00 am. Adam gave her the gun to get rid of but she kept and didn’t say a thing about it to anyone until January 2017. The person in question took the gun to the Atlanta police, it was found to be a match for ballistics in the murder scene from the previous year.
Joe Rayton is set to face life in prison for murder/aggravated assault without parole and another 15 years for other charges. His sentencing has been scheduled for 1.00 pm on May 20.
Officials say Adam and Darrius were not charged in connection with the crime.
