Certainly, there is enough reason for every black person or person of Color to be angry at the Oscar Awards. With Cynthia Erivo emerging as the only black person to be nominated for the Oscars, Tyler Perry could not hide his anger.
In an interview with TMZ, Tyler Perry said he doesn’t “have an opinion either way”. Regarding the latest #OscarsSoWhite controversy. But he still believes that “Hustlers” star Jennifer Lopez and “The Farewell” actress Awkwafina deserved 2020 Academy Awards nominations for their latest roles.—-“I’m upset, man,” he added.
Tyler Perry also praises Netflix for embracing Diversity. “Big ups to Netflix just for the diversity I saw when I walked in that room.”
The famed director, and studio owner, doesn’t come out and say it. But seems he could be hinting at a lack of diversity among the nominees. The only actresses he mentioned are women of color, and of the 10 actresses up for lead and supporting roles …only one (Cynthia Erivo in “Harriet”) is a woman of color.
And yet again, a Caucasian was nominated twice in a category. Just like the Golden Globes. Scarlett Johansson was nominated twice in a leading (“Marriage Story”) and supporting role (“Jojo Rabbit”).
