The latest album, Made in Lagos of the talented Nigerian singer, Ayo Balogun; popular known as Wizkid, dropped on the 30th of October 2020.
Made In Lagos album, was originally scheduled for release on October 15, but the Nigerian singer delayed the release; as he was busy with the #Endsars protest, with a host of other musicians.
“It has been beautiful; to see Nigerians around the world coming together to protest against police brutality,” WizKid said in a press release. “Unity is key. The youth of Nigeria need our collective voices; to continue to shine a spotlight to what is happening inside the country. I want to play my part in this, and in the movement for a better Nigeria; a better place to live for ourselves, our families—our communities. We will get through this together. Together we move. #EndSARS.”
With those words, he postponed the release of his new album, for a later date.
The 14 track album featured celebrity artist; Burna Boy, Skepta, Ela Mai, and others.
MADE IN LAGOS
After the release of the album, a lot of people wondered on why he titled his album; “Made In Lagos.” Wizkid disclosed that he had spent all his life in Lagos; as he was born and bred there; he wanted the world to know that in Nigeria, there are bunch of amazing talents, that proceeds from Lagos.
Ayo WizKid Balogun was engaged in a recent interview with Vanguard Allure, where he talked about his Made In Lagos Album and his upcoming projects.
He said: “The title of the album really explains itself. It’s where I come from. Lagos is the place that birthed me and it’s what made me who I am today. With this project, I just want to show people the amazing talent and music that comes from our people. Music is very soulful and spiritual to me, so I did my best to put that into every song.”
