Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs along with his ex-girlfriend’s family, friends and well-wishers came together to lay Kim Porter to rest in her hometown, Georgia on Saturday. The elaborate funeral was held just over a week after her death and several celebrities were present to mourn with her ex-boyfriend and father of her children, Diddy.
Diddy had arranged for Kim’s casket to be pulled by horses in a well adorned carriage during the funeral which held at Columbus’ Cascade Hills Church and was officiated by Bishop T.D. Jakes. During the funeral several close friends eulogized Kim including her ex-boyfriend, Diddy. Others include Mary J. Blige, and Quincy Brown, her son from a previous relationship.
Both Faith Evans and Yolanda Adams performed musical tributes in honor of Kim Porter during the service. She was laid to rest beside her mother at the Evergreen Memorial Park. Prior to the funeral a public viewing held both on Friday and Saturday at the Charles E. Huff International Funeral Home.
Later on Saturday afternoon, Diddy took to social media to share a tribute to Kim in which he described her as “the truest definition of a MOTHER!” Diddy also shared an emotional note on Twitter before the funeral began. He shared the note “Today we lay to rest our ANGEL,” along with a picture of Kim Porter.
“Her spirit lives on with us FOREVER!!! We thank you all for your prayers and support. You have no idea how much it means to us. We thank GOD for all of you,” Diddy added.
A statement was released by Kim’s family on Friday to the Associated Press saying, “God broke the mold when he made Kim, there was truly no other woman like her. Although her time here on earth was far too short, she lived a life full of purpose and meaning. She was a loving mother and devoted friend. She was the epitome of kindness and grace. There wasn’t a person she met [whose] soul she did not touch. Kim was the type of woman who changed lives for the better,” the Porter, Goodwin and Combs families said. “She will be forever remembered and missed by so many. As her family, we promise to honor her every day of our lives. We love you always.”
