Oak Ridge High School Principal Anthony LiVecchi has apologized for comments he made to some black students during a “90s Throwback Day.” LiVecchi likened the student’s dressing to “Dr.Dre from the ‘90s’ and went ahead to tell them they “looked like criminals”.
In a recorded footage the principal said, “It’s embarrassing. It’s frustrating. You got people taking pictures, posing like they’re Dr.Dre from the 90s. Doesn’t make our school look good.”
These remarks did not sit well with the students and their parents. The angered students met at the school compound to protest against the principal’s demeaning words. On their part, the parents supported by activist Quanell X held a meeting with the school officials to discuss the matter.
The principal has since apologized saying, “I love you all. That’s not how you need to be treated. It won’t happen again.”
