Before his performance, Burna Boy sat down to discuss with the show’s host. The pair talked about his constantly growing success. This cut across his new album, African Giant, his recent award as BET’s Best International Act 2019 , the infamous collaboration with Beyonce on her album, The Lion King: The Gift Album and his Coachella gig.
Burna Boy also expressed his honest feelings concerning the Coachella incident. He mentioned that he was sitting on the toilet when he received the news of his inclusion on the list of performers. In addition, the Nigerian artist expressed his displeasure about his name written in small font.
“I am looking for my name and I can’t find my name. I am like – am I really performing? “They had to circle it for me. That’s never happened to me before. I am used to being the African giant. I didn’t like it and I expressed myself. Not just for that but so, everyone that comes after me won’t have to go through that,” he said.
The incident however, inspired his newest album. Through the musical album, he was able to make a bold stance about his status as THE AFRICAN GIANT!!!!!
