Colin Kaepernick has not been signed by any club in the NFL for about 2 years now. The reason for this being his protest against social injustices like police brutality. His protest involved him going down on one knee during the national anthem before NFL games. This singular action has resulted in club owners not looking his way over the past two years and has raised a lot of criticism from different quarters.
Last weekend was the NFL’s Super Bowl 2019 weekend and ahead of the weekend, several celebrities showed solidarity with Kaepernick. Most celebrities had customized #IMWITHKAP jerseys on while posting tributes on social media to support the ex-49ers player. Among the stars that showed support are Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Common, Angela Davis, and Ava DuVernay.

I will not be a spectator, viewer or supporter of the #SuperBowl today in protest of the @NFL’s racist treatment of @Kaepernick7 and its ongoing disregard for the health + well-being of all its players. To watch the game is to compromise my beliefs. It’s not worth it. #ImWithKap pic.twitter.com/fNEeke0crs
