Wife to the former POTUS and now bestselling author, Michelle Obama, has once again affirmed that she had no faith in the fact that her husband could go ahead to become President prior to the 2008 US Presidential elections.
She affirmed this during an interview on Monday with Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie. She had stated this while speaking to the crowd at her book tour stop over at the London Royal Festival Hall. While speaking to the mammoth audience she said, “I didn’t believe America was ready for a black president, let alone a black president named Barack Hussein Obama.”
This claim was just an affirmation of what she wrote in her bestseller, Becoming, which she released to the public last month. She further stated that the only reason why she joined her husband’s campaign trail was because she believed deep down that he could never win.
Her plan was to just be that supportive wife and get the campaign over with. During her interview last Monday with Adichie the former first lady said she didn’t expect that policies adopted by her husband while in office could in eight years erase over a century’s lot of history. In her words it will be “ridiculous” to conceive such a thought.
In rounding up her statement about the issue she said the fact that there was some retracing of steps didn’t mean there was retrogression, in fact it meant there was hard to achieve the desired progress.
