Colin Kaepernick, the former 49ers player, will not be playing for any team in the Super Bowl next season due to the sanction by the NFL for players who kneel during the national anthem before matches. Several fans are still contending with the NFL over this decision and most artistes contacted to perform at the half time show of the Super Bowl have blatantly declined the offer.
Reports by TMZ on Thursday have revealed that rapper, Travis Scott, has accepted to perform alongside Maroon 5 at the next Super Bowl which comes up on February 3. It has however been discovered that ace rapper, Jay-Z, is speaking to Scott in a bid to convince him to decline the offer.
Jay-Z is one of the front liners criticizing the NFL for the treatment given to Kaepernick and he believes Scott should join other artistes who have declined performing at the event. Truth be told, it is a hard call for any artiste as performing at the Super Bowl is a huge deal.
It will be recalled that both Rihanna and Cardi B had declined the offer to perform at next year’s Super Bowl. Jay-Z himself declined the offer in 2017 in support of the embattled player. Amy Schumer has come out to take the credit for convincing artistes to boycott what is arguably the biggest night in American football.
Both Scott and Jay-Z are yet to come public about the show as yet.
