Latest events show that the custody battle between estranged couple Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga is heading to trial. The couple had failed to reach a private settlement regarding the custody of their nine-year-old son, David Jnr.
The court document states that the former couple will each have to testify in a court as a way of arguing their case. The trial which could last for a couple of days is expected to begin on August 5, 2019.
Hudson and Otunga should have already faced the judges on March 19 but their attorneys held off this appearance. This was necessary so that both parties could settle out of court. It, however, looks like they couldn’t strike a deal so they will be seeing in court on August 5.
According to The Blast, “Otunga also recently filed a motion for sanctions against Hudson but the filing is sealed, so it’s unclear what he is accusing the singer of doing.
Back in 2017, Jennifer Hudson filed for an emergency order of protection accusing Otunga of pushing her while holding their son David. The court granted the temporary request but Hudson would later drop the petition altogether. Otunga has always denied the allegations.”
The Ex-couple ended their relationship in 2017 after being engaged for about 8 years. The court documents also revealed that David Otunga was the primary caregiver to David Jnr. while the relationship lasted. Hudson has denied the claim stating that he was on tour with the WWE for the most of the time.
